Man shot, killed near car in TampaBy Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published December 25, 2000 TAMPA -- A 31-year-old man died of a gunshot wound to the chest Saturday morning at N Avon Avenue and E Stratford Avenue in central Tampa. Joseph Leon Wallace of 712 E Floribraska Ave. died at about 11 a.m., Tampa police said. He had parked his car at that intersection and got out to talk to someone. The suspect pulled a gun and shot Wallace at least once, police said. Wallace died at the scene. Police have not released a description of the suspect.
