For this volunteer, one agency isn't enough

Since 1992, Ray Crookshank has logged in more than 700 hours volunteering with the Retired and Senior Volunteer program, working with three different RSVP agencies.

With the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's parking enforcement specialist team, Crookshank tracked and filed all records, ordered uniforms, logged court subpoenas and kept the team informed about new laws and ordinances regarding motorists violating Hillsborough County's parking ordinances for fire lanes and handicapped parking. He still does.

In Sun City Center, where he lives, he transports frail, elderly persons to doctors' appointments through Samaritan Services Inc. and is on the local security patrol. He and his wife, Genevieve, are ushers at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.

The problem with being so helpful is that agencies miss you when you're not available. The Crookshanks planned to visit London for Christmas.
