TAMPA -- A woman was arrested Christmas Day for shooting her husband to death during an apparent argument.

Brenda Elaine Russian, 35, was charged with second-degree murder and is being held without bond in the Hillsborough County Jail. Police said she admitted shooting her husband, Bradley Allen Russian, 45.

According to an arrest report, Russian and her husband were arguing in the home they rented at 3007 W Price Ave. when she ran into the bedroom and got a .380 semi-automatic handgun. She then confronted her husband and shot him several times.

Neighbors said the couple moved into the home in October and that Bradley Russian recently retired from the military. Brenda Russian is still employed by the U.S. Army.

One neighbor said he heard gun shots about 10:30 p.m.

"I did not know that was them," said Joe Roe, who lives across the street. "Later on, when the police came and I told them, they said that was about right."

Roe said the couple never displayed signs of trouble, but said they often had visitors, and when they did, they drank.

"The next day, you saw the cases of Budweiser bottles lined up on the sidewalk," he said.
