Man with knife accused of grabbing 3-year-old girl

HOLIDAY -- A 68-year-old homeless man was arrested Christmas Eve at a Winn-Dixie grocery for grabbing a 3-year-old girl in the parking lot while holding a steak knife near, according to a sheriff's reports.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Devilla W. Troy at 6:55 p.m. Monday at the Winn-Dixie at 1640 U.S. 19 on charges of aggravated battery, according to the deputy's reports.

A sheriff's report gave the following account: The victim's mother was walking from the store to her car, holding her daughter's hand, when Troy walked toward her and grabbed her daughter. The mother placed herself in a position to shield her daughter from Troy but he would not let go. The mother then pinned him to the car and screamed for help. Two witnesses pinned Troy to the ground until deputies arrived, the report stated.

The girl had small, superficial scratches on her back, which only required Band-Aids, the report said.

Troy told deputies that he did not know his name and that he was in the beginning stages of Alzheimer's disease, according to the report. He also said he was not trying to take the child and did not know why he did what he did. Troy was being held at the Land O'Lakes Jail Tuesday in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Land O'Lakes couple accused of exploiting 81-year-old

A Land O'Lakes couple was arrested Monday on charges of exploiting an elderly woman, according to Pasco County Sheriff's Office reports.

Nov. 20, Tracy Lee Anderson, 33, became power of attorney for an 81-year-old woman who had been diagnosed with dementia and early Alzheimer's disease, according to sheriff's reports. During a three-week period, Anderson and her husband, Tony Lee Anderson, 45, both of 22237 Laver Lane, made $10,000 in cash withdrawals from the elderly woman's account and charged approximately $10,210 to her Discover Card account. They did not use the money solely for the elderly woman's welfare, and her friends and neighbors said the Andersons bragged about starting a business for themselves with the money, according to the reports.

The Andersons were taken to the Land O'Lakes Jail and released Monday evening on $10,000 bail, each.
