Daily fishing report

Deep water springs and wrecks are great places to fish when the weather allows you to get there.

Amberjack of up to 60 pounds are common now. Take a mixed selection of live bait because it seems they want something different every day. While there, don't be surprised if you find big cobia. They seem to hang around the wrecks in 100 feet of water.

Red grouper fishing in 100 feet is about as good as it gets. Most of our fish range from 8 to 15 pounds and are feeding on sardines and live baits. Watch for the pot holes and small breaks. These have been our most productive areas.

Before the recent cold spell, gag grouper fishing in 40 feet had been fun. Start with cut bait before sending down a pinfish. When the weather changes quickly, it takes a little longer to get the big ones to bite.

Kingfish of up to 40 pounds are being caught in Clearwater's hard bottom. Fish are beginning to move south because the cooler water has killed the red tide.
