1. Self-help books are scanned directly into the brain. Married people power-walk away from spouses who refuse to communicate in a planetary language (Venusian or Martian) they understand.

2. Gays and lesbians have the right to marry, but there are few left to do so. Homosexuality has been virtually eliminated through genetic engineering. New anti-miscegenation laws keep humans and cyborgs from tying the knot.

3. Dating services match couples through DNA analysis. Finding one's perfect complement becomes a matter of hard science. Mothers-in-law remain unsatisfied.

4. Polygamy is the hottest civil rights issue. Muslim and African immigrants claim it's culturally biased to prohibit multiple spouses. As evidence of a double standard, they point to the multiple lifelike "robot wives" so many men keep.

5. In an effort to save marriages, voice activation replaces television remote control. Battle of the sexes becomes a war of words.
