From jazz to children's activities to dancing, lots of events will ring in the new millennium.

With far less hype than a year ago, lots of venues are planning events Sunday to welcome 2001 and the true start of the new millennium.
Many of these are suitable for the entire family.
Noon Year's Eve -- For those who can't stay up until midnight, Lowry Park Zoo and Radio Disney offer a daytime celebration beginning at 9:30 a.m., counting down to noon. The event features games with the Tampa Bay Mutiny and Tampa Bay Lightning, children's music, hats and noisemakers, face painting and arts and crafts. Free with regular zoo admission of $9.50 adults, $5.95 ages 3-11. The zoo is at 1101 W Sligh Ave., Tampa. (813) 935-8552.
First Night St. Petersburg -- An alcohol-free celebration for the whole family at venues downtown. Features rock 'n' roll, ethnic music, ballet, jazz, art, theater, fireworks and more. 8 p.m.-midnight. Admission buttons: $8 adult, $5 ages 6-12. (727) 823-8906.
First Night Dunedin -- The North Pinellas version features entertainment on 10 stages. With circus acts, dancing, skits, children's activities and music. 7 p.m.-midnight, downtown Dunedin. Admission buttons: $10 advance, $12 at gate, free for ages 12 and under. Dunedin Chamber, (727) 736-5066.
Royalty Theater family gala -- Alcohol-free event with live music, dancing and snacks. Royalty Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. 7 p.m. $25 (entertainment only) and 9:30 p.m. $50 (includes noisemakers, entertainment, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks.) Portions of this event will be broadcast live on television. (727) 441-8868.
Hockey party -- Watch the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Toronto Maple Leafs and party before and after the game. Two packages to choose from: $60 (includes lower level ticket, post-game party with DJ, unlimited appetizers and unlimited beer and wine), $130 (includes third-level party suite ticket, pre- and post-game party with unlimited food, beer, wine and soda.) 6 p.m., Ice Palace, Tampa. Outback Bowl Parade -- Celebration features more than 20 college bands, cheerleading groups and fireworks. Begins at 5:30 p.m. in Ybor City. Free.
Coliseum Dance Party -- Dance in the new year at WMNF-FM 88.5's Millennium New Year's Eve Celebration with Breeza Tropicale, Blue Dice and the Johnny G. Lyon Band. 9 p.m.-1 a.m., the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N, St. Petersburg. $25 advance, $30 day of event (includes party favors and door prizes.) BYOB and coolers welcome. (727) 892-5202.
MOSI New Year's Eve Camp-In -- Children 7 and older can camp inside the Museum of Science and Industry. Includes fireworks demonstration, IMAX movie, snacks and activities.
