BRENDAN FITTERER: Watching the Sudanese turn on an electric lamp for the first time was probably one of the most amazing moments I’ve ever witnessed, let alone captured in a photograph. I was with them for a world of “firsts” that included everything from appliances to ice cubes. Those moments were a poignant reminder of just how much we take for granted.
