Man lures 6-year-old girl from mother, police sayTimes staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published January 24, 1999 CLEARWATER -- A 40-year-old Seminole man was jailed Saturday on charges he lured a young girl away from the playground at Pier 60 Park on Thursday night. Robert L. Burke, of 8891 78th Place N, walked 200 feet away from the play area with the 6-year-old, an arrest report said. When the girl's mother spotted them, she shouted and Burke ran off. Police found Burke sitting on a wall near the playground with a cup of beer in his hand, the report said. He told an officer he was attracted to small children and wanted to have a "relationship" with the girl, the report said. Charged with kidnapping and having an open alcohol container, Burke is being held in the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $50,300 bail.
