Hunt still on for man who lured boy, 4Times staff writer © St. Petersburg Times, published June 19, 1999 ST. PETERSBURG -- Investigators continue looking for a man who tried to abduct a 4-year-old boy Wednesday on Gandy Beach. They say the car he was driving was a rare model of Oldsmobile Cutlass that has the word "Holiday" on the side. The stranger lured the boy into the car as the boy's mother and her friend swam nearby, deputies said. The two women noticed and got the boy back, but the stranger drove away in a 1985 gold two-door Oldsmobile Cutlass in good condition. "It says "Holiday' on the side. It's a special designation for that particular kind of Cutlass," said Pinellas sheriff's spokeswoman Marianne Pasha. The suspect is described as a slender white man in his mid-30s, weighing about 150 pounds, with a light mustache and a tattoo of a cross on an upper arm. Anyone with information is asked to call the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office at 582-6200. © St. Petersburg Times. All rights reserved. |
