Suspect arrested in teen bicyclist's shooting death

TAMPA -- A 27-year-old man was arrested Friday in the shooting death of a teenager who was riding a bicycle in Tampa last week.

Police charged James Allen Green II, 27, of 3424 Sand Dune Lane in Tampa, with first-degree murder in the death of Jarmon Jordon, 18.

Jordon of 3806 River Grove Court died Wednesday night as he rode his bicycle near Giddens Avenue and 15th Street. He was shot in the back.

Green, a construction worker for Paragon Building Contractors, was booked into the county jail on Orient Road. He also was charged with a parole violation. He was arrested in 1993 and convicted of aggravated battery, possession and delivery of cocaine and retaliation against a witness, county records show.

Woman shot by deputy still in serious condition

TAMPA -- A woman shot Saturday night by a Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy remained in serious condition Sunday in Tampa General Hospital.

Sgt. Rod Reder of the Sheriff's Office identified the woman as Martha Hunt, 49, of 14550 Bruce B. Downs Blvd. Officials say Hunt fired shots inside the home of her ex-boyfriend, Carl M. Branch, then confronted deputies in the driveway of Branch's home at 15319 Morris Bridge Road in northeast Hillsborough County.

Deputy Robert Rodriguez, 28, shot Hunt after she kept pointing a handgun at him, officials say. Rodriguez has been placed on leave with pay while the Sheriff's Office investigates.

Man, 36, accused of having sex with teen

SAFETY HARBOR -- A 36-year-old Safety Harbor man faces charges of having sex with a teenage girl during a two-year period. Steven Lawrence Howell of 218 North Bay Hills Drive was arrested Saturday and charged with sexual battery. He was being held at Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
