Husband, wife are shot dead at homeBy MIKE BRASSFIELD © St. Petersburg Times, published November 25, 1998 Detectives had no suspects in the fatal shootings of Robert and Judy Ann Westrick of 13274 98th Ave. N, between Seminole and Largo. The case is being investigated as a double homicide. The husband and wife were found at 7 p.m. A neighbor taking out recyclables across the street saw Robert Westrick, 57, lying on the stoop in front of the Westrick home. Blood was on the outside wall by the front door. Westrick was taken to Sun Coast Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His wife, 55, was dead inside the home. Both were shot in the upper torso, said sheriff's spokeswoman Marianne Pasha. "We're still trying to nail down exactly what happened here," she said. Shortly before the shootings were discovered, a neighbor saw a man walk out of the couple's house in a brisk, purposeful manner and drive away nonchalantly in a light gray compact car, deputies said. "We'd be interested in talking to this man," Pasha said. "We do not know if he is a suspect at this time." Late Tuesday, forensics investigators with flashlights examined tire tracks in the driveway and on the street. Also, deputies went house to house, questioning neighbors. No one reported hearing the gunshots. The home, with an interior described as neat and orderly, is in a quiet, poorly lit neighborhood. "Nothing ever happens here," said Sue Stocher, who lives two houses to the north. "I've never been afraid of anything here."
