| A worker drives a load of citrus for the C.W. Springstead Packing Company about 1905, probably in Pinellas. Financier Chancey Wallace Springstead owned groves in Pinellas and Hernando counties. About the time this picture was taken, St. Petersburg civic leaders got together to establish the citys first board of trade. From the Times of Feb. 11, 1905: The Times man was not invited and could not have attended if he had been, as he has for some months been forbidden to come within 40 rods of the mayor, except on official business, so our report is necessarily from hearsay. We dont know what the Times man did that so upset the mayor. But we can imagine.
