November 1990 was a trying time for Marine Cpl. Teresa Gerow. With war about to break out in the Persian Gulf, her reserve unit was called up and she was sent to Camp LeJeune, N.C. — light years, it seemed, from her two daughters in Florida. Their tearful parting was only the first of her heartaches. She wrecked her knee unloading boxes at Camp LeJeune and later got divorced and filed for bankruptcy. Daughters Arial, now 12, and Courtni, 10, split their time between their father in Lehigh Acres and their mom, who lives in Marion, S.C., and works in the insurance business. Now remarried, her name is Teresa Moore.
