A string of 11- and 12-year-old sixth-graders at St. Paul Catholic School in St. Petersburg hold an 11-foot Burmese python during the school's Sci-Fest on Wednesday. Eleven feet might seem long, but it's nothing for pythons. Some varieties have been known to stretch past 30 feet in length. The Asian snake, though intimidating, isn't poisonous. But it's no vegetarian, either. It catches and constricts small mammals and birds. Then it eats them whole.
