Jason Bates, 21, heaves a bale of hay on a trailer he is loading Tuesday at the family farm in Darby. Though the farm usually supplies horse farms in Pasco County, this batch had been rained on during Hurricane Georges and was being sent to construction firms that use it for runoff barriers.
