James Vazquez, 14, left, counts pumpkin seeds with the help of classmate Shaun Barkman, 13, as their eighth-grade general math class gets into the Halloween spirit by quantifying a pumpkin. The Gulf Middle School students counted the pumpkin's ribs, described its shape, measured its circumference, and determined its weight and volume, among other things.
