Within a week after the family's toddler Dillon Ward's near drowning, their pool was equipped with a child protection fence and latch. The restraint was something the couple intended to install when they moved in, but they had never got around to it. Quick action by Dillon's mother, Karen, and paramedics that day saved the toddler's life. The device cost $289.
